Our lovely Kate Spade inspired master bedroom provides the ambiance, but between lights going on and off, and the pets, I need help blocking-out the light. Enter the DIY Holly Golightly Sleep Masks.
I need to sleep. I know some people can go through life with like 4hrs of sleep a night and be good to go, but I’m someone who needs her sleep. I’m talking like 8hrs+ a night to feel like a human. Living in a house with a husband who gets up 3hrs before me, and 3 pets that like to rouse me to feed them, I need quality ZZZs when I can get ’em.

DIY Holly Golightly Sleep Masks
I made my own using sleep masks from the dollar store and fabric scraps I had lying around from previous projects. It was a great “using what you have” project and took a few minutes to make.

How to make DIY Holly Golightly Sleep Masks
I started by sewing the frabic scraps to the front of the eye masks. They were a cheap satin with little sayings. Not for me thank you. If you need to use fabric glue, make sure none of it will end up rubbing against your eyes while you sleep.
I paired-off the ribbons and tassels beforehand so that I knew what would go where.
Using Fringe, cut and then glue it to look like eyelids that are closed.
Using a smaller, thinner ribbon, cut and glue ribbon to look like eye brows above the eyes.
I wanted to add the visual interest of the tassels that Holly wore on her ear plugs, but since I don’t wear ear plugs I used some jewelry wire to add them to the elastic band.
I also added some pom poms and little jewels to the tassels to make them look like earings.
And with that, you’ve got the coolest eye masks in town! These are fun, colourful, eclectic just in good spirit.
I wore mine on the plane the other day and will be gifting one to a friend for her bridal shower. These are great as a gift, and fun for guests.
