So we have our FIRST viewer submitted space for the PMQ for two Open Call for Submissions! You guys! This is amazing! I’ve got another one in the works, so stay tuned for that. Like magic, you never know when it will happen ✨
I have to say, I am a huge Harry Potter nerd. I grew up with Harry Potter. I read the first book when I was 11 and so on. For the last books’ releases, my age coincided with Harry’s, and to this day I remain convinced my owl missed my house. *Grown woman delusions y’all* You can be damn sure I waited outside the book store at 12 midnight to buy the books and then read them through the night. Now, when life gets complicated, when things are hard, and when I sure as don’t want to be adulating – if I have a magical window of time – I re-watch a movie and enter the world I lived-in for so long. It’s not often, but the gang’s all there when I visit.
I was always Hermione, and I married a Ron. You can’t get more HP than that! I even have a fluffy ginger cat ???? Much like Ron, DH doesn’t quite seem to understand it all. He once asked me why “this Voldemort guy is chasing Harry”…. we’ll leave it there.
And without further ado, the most magical nursery you’ve ever seen in a PMQ!
How often do you normally move? What number move is this? (the house we will be touring)
My husbands trade is pretty stationary. There are few places we can go and are usually only offered at certain points in their career. We have been in the same location for nearly nine years now, which some would consider lucky. I had a gypsy type lifestyle growing up so, so such stability can be daunting. This is our first home together but i know this is not the last.
If you could give one piece of moving advice what would it be?
I have yet to move during my life as a military wife, but i feel the best advice i could give is your friends and family are the best support. They are there to help you through stressful times, so grab some champagne and host a good old Sex and the City closet cleaning!
Moving can suck, but what is the plus side of moving often?
The one thing i have always found intriguing is the exploration of a new place and the feeling of a new start. I guess this would be considered a plus when it comes to being posted. Adventure is out there!
What would you call your style?
My style. Hm. My husband would say eclectic. I say work in progress. I am drawn to a more modern farmhouse type style when i am secretly online house hunting. Though any house we buy or rent will always have some level of geek chic!
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in military housing?
The biggest challenge i have faced living in a PMQ is the layout we currently live in. I really like an open concept with lots of light. Sometimes i feel closed in with the different blocks of rooms, and lack of windows. I know this is not the case with all Q’s but sometimes we dont get the choice. For now I make it work, but when we do move i would like to find something more open flowing.
Do you have a favorite item that seem to work perfectly in every home?
I dont have a favourite piece yet because we haven’t really had the chance to flex our stylish wings. Though i do treasure our nerdy collection we have built up over the years. That should work in every home we live in.
What is our favorite spot in this room and why?
Its such a tiny room, so if i stand in the middle i guess that would be my favourite spot. It allows me to see and pretty much reach everything in it.
What’s your favorite piece in this room and why?
I have many favourite pieces as i basically DIY’d the entire room, but if i had to chose it would be the Dumbledore Army rack and all the wands. My husband and I spent hours carving them, painting them and waiting for them to be dry so we could “test” their flyability and magical capabilities. Haha.
A cool last thing i would like to mention is, this room holds special meaning. My husband and I have just finished the foster to adopt program. It has taken us nearly two years to complete everything and in that time putting this room together has helped me relax about the long road we have had with trying to grow our family. We are now ready for the next chapter.

Thank you Jessica! ???? I wanted something bright, and all the HP baby rooms i saw where darker colours so i went with a white base and added hogwarts house colours from there. ???? To make the whole thing more personal i DIY’d almost every piece in that room. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

A fan favourite for sure!
