DIY Nursery Sign

You guys! I got the Cricut Joy, and it’s actually the perfect size for all my current crafting needs – and maybe yours too? I tested it out with this easy little nursery sign to hang on the crib in  June’s rainbow nursery. Rise and shine baby girl!

Nursery Sign

So despite having every other kind of craft in the rainbow nursery, I hadn’t actually made a sign yet! I’ve been inspired by so many, but none of them felt right, and I kind of wanted something I hadn’t seen anywhere else- a sign for her crib!

I was playing around in the Cricut Design Space and came across a design in the design space that said “rise and shine,” but it was stacked vertically.

I matched the font to the Candice Regular font (also available in Design Space) so I quickly made it horizontal and added “baby girl.”

I saved the whole project in the Cricut Design Space, so if you want to make it yourself you can!

Why I like the Cricut Joy

I’ve used the Maker and the Explore Air 2 – and I still have my Maker – but the Joy is so much more compact, and kind of perfect for where I’m at with my crafting.

I no longer have a studio and I no longer have a home office, but I don’t want to keep all my stuff stored away. The Cricut Joy is perfect for my craft cart, and so are all the accessories. Even the vinyl rolls are smaller, which actually felt like it lead to less waste. I think that’s something we can all get behind, right?

Using the Cricut Joy to make a nursery sign

I’ve actually whipped-up a neat little video for this, and you get a great idea of the scale of the machine, as well as the mechanics of cutting, weeding and applying vinyl to a sign.

DIY Nursery Sign

This pre-cut acrylic sign was just what I needed, and it even came with two pre-drilled holes, so all I had to do was add ribbon and hang on June’s crib. I made sure to double knot it because she kept untying the bows. Toddlers! What can ya do?

As you can see, JB is very excited to show you her new crib sign. Welcome to her crib!

Double knotted – this kid is good with bows.
