Last weekend has come and gone, and next weekend is almost here. Who else is looking forward to those delightful mornings with home-brewed coffee, sunshine trickling in through your bedroom curtains, and the impossibility of sleeping-in? That’s right: impossibility. I haven’t been able to sleep-in since I was 21. I seem to be hardwired to wake by 8am on weekends, I’ve been told it’s part of growing up. It’s a gift and a curse.
You know what else is part of growing up? Brunch – It’s amazing.
I’ve teamed-up with Crow Canyon Home to bring your brunch done three ways using their oval steak plate. I first fell in love with Crow Canyon Home’s enamelware when shopping in Homesense when I stumbled across their baking sheets. They were a revelation and are now are constant in my kitchen arsenal.
The quality of the enamelware is outstanding, the colours and design are classic but contemporary enough for any kitchen, and they’re great for serving oodles of delicious breakfast. I fully plan on utilizing these bad boys for more than brunch. I can see a clam bake served on these, or a heaping piles of BBQed meat, or tacos, or a cheese & charcutterie platter. There is no end to what would look good on the beautiful platters.
But back to brunch though: on the menu – waffled cinnamon buns, eggs and bacon, and waffles.
For the cinnamon roll waffles, instead of baking them all you do is place them within the waffle griddle and cook until ooey and gooey. I then covered ours in a generous spread of cream cheese icing… because.
Isn’t this tea towel funky? I snagged it in Homesense.
I personally prefer Anna Olson’s recipe for cinnamon rolls, it’s a tried and tested recipe in this household and is perfect for overnight guests because it sits in the fridge until you’re ready to bake them.
As far as the eggs and bacon go, it’s as simple as cooking your bacon to perfection. DH and I both like it kind of rubbery, but also kind of crispy. Perfection lies in striking the balance. How do you like your bacon?
Brunch looks delicious when served on the blue steak plate. The yellow and reds contrast beautifully with the blue speckle. I’m amazed no one has thought of this before.
I must admit, part of the brunch menu was inspired by the tea towels. These adorable crocheted bacon, eggs, and pancakes on pink gingham are almost too much…. almost.
Last but not least, waffles! If you follow me on instagram you’ll have seen my waffles being dusted in icing sugar. I hope it motived you out of bed and into a dinner, or at least your kitchen.
p.s the colourful license like the tea towels featured in my brunch extravaganza really do make all the difference when choosing serving ware.
Next time I have brunch, you’re all invited! What’s on your brunch list?
*Crow Canyon Home provided the product for review, but all thoughts are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make PMQ for two possible.
1.) I’m a morning cursed person too but I like it and that’s what I’m used too (that sounded corny);
2.) I like/need/want that beautiful enamelware from Homesense; and
3.) Brunch three ways or any ways sounds good to me as long as someone else cooks it.
1) I hear ya. Those 20 minutes if oroductivity before everyone is up are the most efficient of the week! 2) girl! get on it! in red and blue they’d be perfect for your boat! 3) Next time I’ll make sure to get you an invite 😉
Those plates look amazing…and so does the food. Totally ready for waffles now!
Sleeping in does not exist in my household with the kids. I’m sure in a few years I won’t be able to wake them up in the morning!
The trays are really nice! Are they light-weight or heavier (hard to tell from photos)? They look like a really nice size – not too big or small.
And seriously? Those crochet tea towels- we need them :). Where did you find them?
They’re a really nice weight. The enamelware is thick enough to hold quite a bit of food (I’m not worried about them bending or denting) but light enough that I could easily hold one in each hand outstretched if I needed to (make sense?).
Crow Canyon Home stuff is great like that. I’ve also got a beautiful red cookie tray.
Those tea towels are from Homesense! Such a steal!
