Colourful Floral Fall Porch

September 12, 2017~ backyard, Fall

From this spring edition of the One Room Challenge // here // you know that I have a love/hate relationship with our front porch. It’s exposed to a busy street, the landscaping is kind of hit or miss, and our PMQ sidding is the colour equivalent of ???? (through no choice of our own). That being said, I do almost everything I can (within the limits of reason) to change how I feel about the front porch, and my colourful floral fall porch decor is a step in that direction.

In case you’re looking for some fall porch decor ideas, I’m participating in a blog hop hosted by Taryn of Taryn Whiteaker.com , so make sure you go check-out what she’s serving-up this fall, as well as what everyone else in the hop is doing (check the links at the bottom(.

With brown as the starting point and dominating colour for our front porch, I use blues, whites, and pinks to balance the colour palette. I’ve added a lot of pink, because, well, how can I not! I was also able to recycle a lot of my Spring ORC // here // planters and stools from HomeSense in my fall decor, so I’m quite pleased about that. I also thrifted those chinoiserie planters from our local Value Village and have a few more inside too.

It’s proof that when you purchase patterns and styles you love, they’ll transcend seasons and become year-round gems. I find a lot of those at HomeSense though, and I hope you do too.

I think the fall mum and straw flower are perfect blooms for the season. They’re hardy, colourful and will give your space life and fill it with colour – sounds like my ideal colourful floral fall porch flower.

I’ve added some Astors and Celosia too, because variety is the spice of life!

The same can be said of the pumpkin situation happening here; I’ve got fake mixed with real and it looks great.

I think the “sloppy” black and white striped planter adds some fun to the otherwise strict lines of the geometric planter and the fine detail of the chinoiserie planter.

I used DecoArt’s Decor OutDoor Living paint for the job and it so far it has lasted an entire summer and is still going strong.

I really wish I could paint my front door. It would help offset the brown, but sadly I am stuck with this white door for the next few years.

So, layering applies to front door mats as well. Cool!

Thank you Jane 🙂 I live in a typically Canadian climate, so I would feel silly putting anything but appropriate flowers out there 🙂
