When I packed-away all our Christmas mantel // here // and Christmas decor // here // the house felt empty. In a good way? Sure. In a bad way? Not really. Truth be told, I wasn’t ready to pack away my collection of bottle brush trees with the gold bases. They are beautiful, and not necessarily christmas specific. So I did what any normal person does, I ordered three more while they are boxing day sales and waited for them to arrive before decorating our built-ins as if winter was another take on the holidays.

They’re everywhere on our built-ins, and are the sum total of our winter decor. So enjoy! I know I do every day.

Do you like the burning fireplace? Ever since Netflix launched the Burning Birch Wood movie I’ve been enthralled. It’s a nice alternative considering we don’t have a fireplace, and I spent many hours flipping through instagram or a magazine, while listening to Christmas music with the “fireplace going.” Now that were just into straight winter, I think it’s equally important to have it on, if only for the illusion of warmth.
I don’t know about you, but my eyes are immediately drawn to my bunny friend. Like I said on Instagram the other day, all my woodland creatures got little scarves/bows to help make them feel right at home with all the colour on the shelves. This guy is no exception! For the greenery beneath, I bought a big bouquet of flocked and glittered greenery on clearance at Michaels, and then cut it up into smaller sprigs to add next to the woodland creatures.
Then of course there’s the classy little bottle brush trees. Those were a boxing day purchase and the store sent me an extra one! No complaints here.
Like I said though, my winter decor is more about vignettes and not about statements.We don’t do much seasonal decorating until Easter and spring, so these little vignettes will transition well through the next few months.
Speaking of transitions – can we talk about these florals?! They’re the left-overs from my Christmas florals from Afloral.com and I think they look perfect in a little vase on one end of my mantel. The bow is an extra graphic touch, while the different sizes of anemones and the big magnolias are perfect.
That little deer ornament looks perfect under the cloche with a sprig of greenery. Not too sure if she’ll stay there all winter, but she’s good there for now. This blue willow jar was another Value Village find! It didn’t belong with my collection on the other shelf, so instead I’ve given it some flowers and placed it where it will get the attention it deserves.
This is the last of my woodland creatures! That’s it folks! That’s my winter decor. It’s all about little touches that fill the spaces and make for a good laugh – winter creatures in scarves, I mean, comme’on!
