You guys know how much I love a tablescape, and given the time of year — this was a no brainer. I found a lovely lobster print table cloth by Kate Spade at my local Homesense, and the rest just came together. I used a shade from the summer 2018 Tiffany Pratt Collection x Krylon, and used one from the spring collection as well. I love me some spray paint, and this just proves why. I was able to quickly and easily give a bunch of plastic crabs & lobsters a new colour.

Creating Pastel Seafood Decor
There’s a small DIY involved in this colourful pastel seafood tablescape. It’s as simple as spray painting plastic crabs, lobsters and seashells, using colours that complement your palette.

I’ve got reds and blues present in a good seafood tablescape, so I used pinks to create depth in the colour range. I used Krylon’s Watermelon & Ballet Slipper to cover-up the really bad paint job on these budget friendly crustaceans.
As with all spray paint projects: spray from a distance, use broad strokes, apply over multiple coats (you won’t get it in one go).
Styling a Pastel Summer Seafood Tablescape
When it came to styling this lovely summer scene, I relied on a strong print with the tablecloth & used our every day blue ink blot china. I then added in a bunch of seafood related items like my giant green clamshell as a cooler for the bubbly, and of course my pastel plastic seafood.
While the spray painted pastel lobsters don’t actually add anything in terms of utility, they do sure add a load of whimsy. I love how fun and unexpected they are, especially on a summer seafood tablescape! You’d surely expect to see the real thing, but maybe not a pink or watermelon version.
For this meal, we’re having actual lobsters, so I’ve included some buns (for all the butter), as well as a little bowl with lemon water to help clean your fingers in between courses. What else would you add to a tablescape like this?

I’m definitely convinced that using my green clamshell as a cooler on the pastel seafood tablescape, was a stroke of genius. Well done, me! And because I spray painted the crabs, I was easily able to add it to the mix without worrying that the paint would run.
At this point, you know my stance on champagne and tablescapes, so it was only a matter of time before you spotted the bottle in the mix.
