Gone Fishing Y’all ????????????

With all that’s been going on in my life, our summer vacation couldn’t have come at a better / worse time. This post is my version of hanging a “Gone Fishing” sign on the door and walking away for a week or two. If you haven’t been following along on Instagram, two weeks ago my youngest brother died. I flew home immediately and then spent 10 days with my family grieving. I came home with enough time to get some things done before leaving on our much anticipated summer vacation.

I’ll have a post about my brother when I’m ready, so in the meantime I’d like to thank you all for the love and support. It means a lot at a time like this.

*Ford Canada sponsored this post, but all thoughts are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make PMQ for two possible.

Our summer road trip has been on the books for months. We’ve been dying to go to Martha’s Vineyard for years but the timing has never worked-out. This summer it all came together perfectly though, and with the help of Ford Canada we’re doing it in style. You see, our SUV is on its last legs, so we’ve been looking at our options for the next big vehicle we purchase. We need something that can haul people, things, stuff, more stuff, a dog and two cats when we get posted. We’re not at the stage where a minivan is in play, and we can’t justify just another another SUV. We’re looking at a pick-up truck and a modified SUV for our needs. Ford was generous enough to let us test drive the Ford Flex on our summer road trip to see if it fit our needs.

First off, the Flex is insane. Everything is top of the line; from the 4 sun-roofs, to the automatic trunk and stow seats, and the dashboard system. I’m very impressed considering I hadn’t thought something like this would fit our needs. The profile is pretty sleek when you think about it too, and by god can it hold things.

When we’re back I’ll have a two part photo essay about our road trip which will span from home to Martha’s Vineyard, to Toronto and back. I’m going to put this vehicle to the test for our needs and will report back.

For now though, it looks like the Flex will do just fine.

While we’re on vacation I’m going to try and “embrace the detours,” “ditch the map” and “enjoy the journey.” Is it cheesy that I got the vacation’s mottos from some luggage tags? nope. Because in this case they are so on the money.

My little brother; my baby brother, my eman. He was all about the journey and never ever had a map. He lived for the detours, and I think I need to try that for a little bit. While I don’t think I’ll come back with green hair or wind up in Nicaragua, I’ll just have to wait and see where this trip takes me.

Bruce and Dan are obviously along for the trip as well, and it’s super convenient that we’ve actually got house guests while we’re gone so the cats won’t be lonely.
