With all good parties, you start by taking a look inside the fridge to make sure you have everything you need! If not, a trip to the store is in order. I made sure that I was well stocked with poisons, eye of newt, nightshade and any other potion brewing essentials.
Kidding, I hit the liquor store and made sure I had the good stuff. In fact, I needed a bunch of things to make my Bewitched cocktail, and you’ll get the recipe for that on Friday!
Setting Up Your Halloween Bar
It’s easy to make your existing bar set-up look spooky and sexy, all you need are the right tools! Take the Moon Phase curtain from Roostery. I’ve used it in a few different set-ups so far, like my DIY Hocus Pocus Mirror in the entryway, but here it helps shield my guests from the goodness that awaits them. It’s adds a bit of drama to the reveal once you’re ready to pull back the curtain and serve drinks.
I found these really fun skeleton arms and hands at the dollar store, and thought they would make a great addition to the bar scene. They’re like hands reaching out from the grave to grab a cocktail or steal some candy, and they add some whimsy to an otherwise no-nonsense space.
Also, don’t ya just love my Masked Portrait Gallery? I originally did it all for the party, and then decided to make them a standalone post.
Where’s the retro buffet?
Now that we’ve got the bar set-up covered, what about food? games? Well, my DIY Skeleton Dance cake topper would make a handsome addition to any cakes you might be serving, but so would the easy to decorate Halloween cupcakes I dreamed up. Don’t forget your easy to sew apron – made using this print in cotton popplin – though! Don’t wanna get icing all over your party dress.
My DIY Treat Bags, made with this print in Kona, look mighty handsome stuffed full of yummy treats for guests as well. Hang them for a tree branch like I have, or pop them in a candy bowl, either way, your guests will appreciate the parting gift.
Once you’re done enjoying those, grab the DIY Holographic Ouija Board and see if you can’t summon Britney circa 2007.
Setting up a Photo Booth
It wouldn’t be a party without a photo booth would it?! I used that Moon Phase curtain again, to set-up a fun backdrop for my partygoers. I even moved my IKEA Hack Bar Cart into place to hold all the pumpkins and any drinks that need to be set down.
If Bruce wasn’t so interested in getting some snuggles, you would be able to better see his adorable Bandana that we debuted in our Retro Halloween Porch Decorations post.
Other than good tunes, awesome costumes, fun food, and amazing decor – what more could you ask for?! I used this print in a woven wallpaper (aka removable wallpaper), stuck them on really thin acrylic sheets, and then cut around them. I used 3M Velcro pads to hang them on the fridge.
