The main floor bathroom has kind of haunted me since I declared it “done” back in August. You read that right – I’m upgrading our main floor bathroom too! When I did the renter-friendly tiled wall in our master bathroom aka the closet with a toilet and sink // here //, I started to realize that maybe I wanted something a little sleeker in our main bathroom. Sure, the blue ceiling and eclectic decor were fun, but it didn’t scream “put me in a magazine,” and as my style has evolved I’ve sought-out a more refined look from my spaces. So when Behr came to me with their Splurge vs. Save campaign, I knew I wanted to do the bathroom as well as the kitchen. In case you missed it, for the campaign they’re challenged us to re-do a room for under 1000$ using Behr & Home Depot products, and I opted to do two rooms for the combined budget of 1000$ to see just how far I could stretch it.
I’ve got a board on Pinterest // here // full of beautiful bathrooms of all shapes and sizes and colours. However, none of them really screamed renter-friendly. Given that we’re renters I can really only work with solutions that come down when we move, and it can be really tricky to create structural elements that aren’t permanent. Out went the plans for a grand tiled wall with marble, out went the rain shower, and out went a bigger vanity. In came some new solutions!
So while looking through my board I paused on a few images of spaces with board and batten or a large plywood detail. Neither of those would leave a small footprint when we took them out, but bead board would! So off I tore on Pinterest looking for small bathrooms that had used bead board. From there the inspiration started flowing and I was able to look at more interesting colour combinations.
Now, I’ve got my heart set on quite a few things already even though the space isn’t complete. But I thought I’d share a bit about my inspiration and where it’s going. All you need to know is that we’re using a peachy-pink and some black. But where and how?! That’s the million dollar question y’all.

I really like the black ceiling in here. Paired with the classic Hermes orange and white subway tile, the space is resplendent in stunning simplicity. I also appreciate the small brass table that they bring into the shower to hold expensive shampoos and elixirs (I’m only assuming).

This is where the pink came from! and maybe the poppies 😉 I think it’s a fresh take on a small space (like we have) and it’s nice that the single vanity (which we have) works well within the scale. I love a double vanity with tons of mirror space and wall sconces, but that’s not my reality. #smallspaceliving

And this folks, is where the shower curtain and bead board really got decided. Oh, and brass has been a huge theme throughout, so it only felt right when I saw this pic. Sadly I haven’t found any amazing oil paintings to hang in out bathroom – yet – but I’ve still got hope.
