Plans For The Master Bedroom Refresh

Sooo, we’re changing things up in the bedroom. And no, it’s not what you think. You may have seen on the PMQ for two Facebook page, but last week I moved most of the bedroom around while trying-out new side tables and lamps that I acquired after my Grandmother’s passing. With that furniture 180 comes some small changes with a big impact, and the need to refresh a few things. I’m sharing my plans for the bedroom so that you can follow along on social media as I finish the updates before I share a refreshed space in a few weeks.

With the arrival of new furniture comes the need to move things around and shake things up in the bedroom. Before I embark on a little summer refresh I thought I'd share my plans for our master bedroom.

See, our bedroom before the new to me night-stands //here // was fine, it was super colourful and you guys consistently went bananas over photos of it on Instagram // here // but the floorplan was awkward in person and we couldn’t see any of the rug. There was a dog bed on DH’s side of the bed between him and the wall, there were always laundry baskets on my side of the bed, and it just didn’t flow. I’m sure our feng shui was all out of whack.

With the head of the bed now under the window (which is not centred on the wall) we have equal access points to our sides of the bed, and there’s more room near the closet and dresser. PLUS, everything feels more symmetrical. You can view the lay-out and everything in the video from the Facebook Live (scroll down the Facebook page // here //)

Also, it should be noted that I have apparently pinned this image // here // no less than 6 times to my bedroom board on Pinterest. I guess I like it!

This is my to-do list for the space, and as you can see from the inspiration shots below, I won’t be shying away from colour, just using it in a new way.

  • Add blinds to the window.
  • Centre curtain rod on the wall.
  • Mount the headboard to the bed frame – possible reupholster?
  • Make a new bow-spring skirt (the cats have torn our current one to shreds).
  • Reposition the rug under the bed so that we can see more of it.
  • Pick a new fabric for the bedside table skirts.
  • Plug the holes in the wall from the headboard and re-paint.
  • Find a new place for the laundry basket.
  • Update bedding? (tbd)

While I can’t have a canopy bed of my dreams in here, so much room beyond what we have (booooo) and I don’t have room for a make-up table and walk-in closet (at least in this house) I do have the option to do some fun stuff, so here are my inspiration shots.

p.s I have disabled the pin-it feature for the images below as they are not mine. If you hit the Pinterest button on the share bar at the top of the page you can share my pre-determined inspiration image though.
