Maple Whisky Milkshake

With Canada day just a few sleeps away, I thought my Maple Whisky Milkshake was due for an appearance. This year it’s even better because not only is it boozy, but it’s served in the most adorable Canada Day themed glasses. I mean, we all know how important the right vessel is for a beverage and presentation, but these cute glasses from HomeSense take the cake… and the milkshake too.

*HomeSense sponsored this post, but all thoughts are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make PMQ for two possible.

In case you’ve been too busy dodging hail, rain and intolerable humidity (early summer in Canada anyone?) you’ll have seen the super cute Canada 150 themed products in your local HomeSense. I’ve been eyeing a few pieces myself, but they recently sent me a few of their favourites to see what I would do with them.

I immediately thought of my TGIF series and though the boozy bevy would be perfect for showing off their glassware, the varieties of boutique maple syrup, and a super cute cake stand. Plus, I really wanted a milkshake.

Ingredients

  • 4 big scoops of Vanilla Icecream per lowball glass
  •  Milk – how much or how little depends on how thick you want it
  • Skor bits
  • 100% Pure Canadian Maple Syrup
  • Canadian Whisky or Rhye
  • Whipped Cream

Blender or food processor required as well

Step 1: Put 4 heaping scoops of vanilla ice-cream per milkshake, into a food processor.

Step 2: Add a splash of milk and then some. I didn’t measure how much I used, and much like when making KD, how much you put is entirely up to you.

Step 3: Set your mixer on low, it shouldn’t take long for it to all blend together in creamy goodness.

Step 4: Start adding maple syrup! These really cute sample packs of maple syrup from HomeSense made it easy to pick which “flavour” I wanted. I opted for the “early harvest” blend because it was lighter and less bold, that way people could add more later.

Step 4: Run the food processors again just to make sure the syrup is blended in.

OPTION: Add 2oz of whisky per milkshake into the mix, OR wait till step 9.

Step 5: Pop the milkshake into the fridge real fast while you coat the inside of the glass with more maple syrup! Decadence here we come!

Step 6: Rim the glass on a plate of Skor bits (trust me, totally worth it)

Step 7: Pour the milkshake into the glasses and add more maple syrup.

Step 8: Top with whipped cream and a maple cookie!

Step 9: Invert a mini bottle of whisky into the milkshake and let it seep into the drink.

That super patriotic maple leaf cake stand is serving as a whisky / scotch display, and I think it’s doing a fabulous job. If you’re in the market for one you can find them at HomeSense!

I think the added touch of the Crown Royal and the maple creme cookie really complete the 100% authentic Canadian aspect of the drink. What did i miss? what else would you add to the drink?

I will say this, it’s not every day I let my true Canadian colours fly over here on the blog, so it’s been fun to find a way to incorporate the red and white into my decor.

Aldo, can we talk about the beaver?! He’s kind of amazing, and has piqued the interest of the dog and the cats. He’s a wily one. Especially since he seems to wander between shelves on the bar.
