In the studio, we’ve got a white IKEA makeup table that has seen better days. It started in our entryway back in our Duplex PMQ, and when we moved to this place it did duty as a couch console and entryway table as well. It then worked as a sideboard in our dining room, before finally being moved to the studio. It’s still going strong, but it was looking a little rough. I’ve wanted to cover it in a bold print, but I didn’t know where to start. I reached out to Spoonflower to see if we could work on the IKEA Sideboard Hack, and to my joy, they agreed!

I did however want to talk a little bit about my hardware choices. Remember the Kate Spade inspired powder room reveal back in march? Well then you’ll remember my lovely hardware choices, and how perfectly they complete the space. Liberty Hardware has got quite the catalogue, ranging from kitchen to bathroom, and everything in between.
I fell in love with their 1″ Vintage Casters in brass. They’re clean, simple, and very functional. They each support quite a bit of weight, so I only used 4 of them on the IKEA Sideboard Hack, but I could have gotten away with 2. Now with the wheels, I can roll the cart around the studio (or my home) which makes it an infinitely more useful piece of furniture for me.
For the drawer front, I could have left it without handles, but that’s not nearly as fun. It would also leave me without a place to hang a tea towel, a purse, of what have you. Handles are useful, never discount them. I love the look of lucite, and these babies spoke to me. The Acrylic 5-1/16″ (128mm) Cabinet Bar Pulls are sturdy, stunning, and unfortunately don’t come in brass. I solved that by taping and spray painting them.
Once in place, all the hardware really added to the sideboard. The pieces gave new functionality and style, complete the revamped look with the bold print. Make sure you head over to the the Spoonflower blog to grab all the details, and see how it looks styled as a bar cart!
