Remember that time I wrote a lengthy post detailing how we made our beautiful harvest table and matching benches? Remember how I said I would post a “reveal” with all the elements completed and styled? Remember how that was back in early June?

Well, given that it’s almost September I figured I should “get on it” and style the table already!

The table is 10 feet long and the benches are 8 feet long, so we can fit 12 comfortable for dinner. We’ll be putting it to good use this coming week when we celebrate DH’s birthday with a clambake. Because of a series of limiting circumstances we haven’t really been able to entertain much this summer, so I haven’t had any naturally occurring times to photograph the table all done up.
This past Sunday I hauled everything out, bit by bit, and set the harvest table for dinner for eight, much to the amusement of my curious neighbours, and then photographed it and took everything back in. The image below, from Flower Wild Events was a great source of inspiration for the photo shoot.

When styling the table I went with my dominant summer colours: shades of blues and green, with pops of silver. Why? Because I happen to have enough place settings for eight in those colours. Until I have a proper china hutch and can house many place settings, I’m left with place settings and accents that can be used in different iterations.
The harvest table’s length and height are ideal for a family like us; we’re both 6 feet tall and our family and friends are just as big. It’s also super convenient to have some elbow room when chowing down with family and friends.
Staining the underside of this harvest table was a b*tch to say the least. DH insisted that we flip the table over and stain every nook and cranny – only after I spent 3 hours under the table staining it – to help prevent wear and tear this winter, and next winter, and the winter after that.
I love this table so much that I don’t want to put a table cloth on it! Making and staining the table was a labour of love, and I want to enjoy it. You can also see part of my massive succulent terrarium. It was a spouses’ crafting night project that I turned into a large terrarium.
Do you see how many disco balls I have on this table? Do you? I may or may not have bought a large stash of them from Dollarama at Christmas time, and am now using them around the house and in styling for shoots as I see fit.
Although I couldn’t get a great shot of the space at night – because I simply don’t have a good enough camera – I turned the lights balloon string lights on so that you guys could see them. Can you see how perfect and romantic this place would be at night?! You should all come for dinner!
