Halloween Decor – Entryway

For this year’s Halloween decor I decided to stay away from all the garrish and gaudy plastic orange pumpkin decor that everyone always does, and opted for a more refined and classic decor.

Think Victorian-style curios and lots of candles. sure, my decor is eclectic and colourful the rest of the year, but fall makes me dream of grand New England Colonials with oodles of fresh pumpkins and loads of history.

So why decor on just one table? Because I wanted to make as few purchases as I needed to, and use items I already owned (like cake stands, cake domes, candle sticks etc). I usually go about most projects this way, but I felt it needed to be said in this case. Like Christmas, everyone thinks they need to spend a lot of money to make style work for them. Not so. All you need is some ingenuity and inspiration.

Ta-dah! Scary and classy Halloween decor all in one. We’ve got black cats, skeletons of all kinds and tons of candles for that eerie glow. P.s can you see the plastic bag full of other plastic bags hanging in the stairs behind the table? Yea, that’s what happens when you rush into a photo shoot.

I spy with my little eye some cotton buds, recycled from a previous project.

I think this little hand is delightfully sinister looking with the way the fingers are poised. The little bird is a Dollaram purchase that provides a touch of adorable fluffiness while still being scary if you’re afraid of birds.

The little pumpkins are a hold over from the thanksgiving table decor post in case you were wondering.

Bones, the rat and the spider are all from Walmart for the low low price of 3$ each. Get ’em while you can!

One final look before the table gets done up again on the 31st! I amy have small additions in which case I’ll share pics on instagram and Facebook, so make sure you follow along!

Live boldly.
