Floral Glam Master Bedroom + Closet

It’s here! it’s here! The reveal of our Floral Glam Master Bedroom + Closet! This was a whirlwind makeover, and Dan was none too pleased with having to paint, but the end result is a seriously stunning space. We changed relatively little in the grand scheme of things, but what we did has added value to our 1960s fixer upper. Without much more pre-amble, come see what we did!

*Wayfair, Hygge & West, Behr, Homesense, Addison Weeks, Hudson Valley Lighting & Minted sponsored this post, but all thoughts are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make PMQ for two possible.

Our Floral Glam Master Bedroom + Closet is a feast for the eyes! Using a simple palette, but lots of pattern and metallics, we created our own oasis.

Our Patterned Glam Bed

As you can see, the glossy black trim against the crisp white BEHR paint, is a really nice update. The colours are in perfect contrast with each other, and I hate the flooring a little less against their backdrop.

We added striped rugs on both sides of the bed, because there was no sense in having a great big rug that was hidden under the bed. Two smaller ones was a good idea!

For the nightstands, we re-purposed the IKEA Rast dressers from my DIY IKEA Hack Desk. We painted the outside black to match the trim, and boy does it look good.

The polka dot bedding and Wayfair Sleep Mattress are truly the centerpiece of the room (because it’s a bedroom – duh), and the whole scene is backed with a lovely new headboard that I bought.

I’ve DIYed them in the past, but they’ve never been the right height or width, and with a king sized bed I wanted something professional. We chose the pattern and it was custom made for us over a few weeks. Easy right?

Can we take a second to talk about lighting here? We moved our side table lamps in favour of wall mounted sconces from Mitzi (Hudson Valley Lighting). We then added discreet switches beneath each one, on each side, so that we could turn the light on and off without getting out of bed. It was an investment in terms of the electrician, but well worth it as this is a serious value add for resale.

The Floral Glam Closet

I cannot seem to photograph the closet very well, but this is the best way of showing you how it relates to the rest of the bedroom. Let’s skip past that and look at all the pretty photos of inside the closet! I’ll have a dedicated post about it next week, including details about the shelving etc.

In here we removed the two unsightly ceiling bulbs, and consolidated with a lovely fixture — also from Mitzi — and absolutely love how it pops against the Hygge & West Rifle Paper Co. Wallpaper. The black & white stripe motif is brought into this space with our up-cycle IKEA shoe cabinet, and with a fresh hardware from Addison Weeks.

I’ll have more info on this space next week! So stay tuned.

The Yellow Dresser

This old dresser got painted not once, but TWICE in the process of this remodel. The pink just wasn’t working for me, and it didn’t tie in with the peony wallpaper in the closet, so I changed it up to yellow. Much happier!

Those two toned jewelry boxes are a DIY coming your way in a few short weeks, so in the meantime, please imagine what the inside looks like.

The addition of the blue fur rug really picks up on the blue pulls, and helps add an extra colour to break up the palette. The whole space feels quite glam to be honest, and all the florals are just perfection. Once again, a black and white stripe to create further continuity within the space.

This pink chair — where our soon to be baby’s stuffed animal sits — was a Homesense find! It’s from the new Samantha Pynn Collection, and there will be more on that soon!

Don’t forget to check out the other participants to see what they’re up to!
