Cotton Bud Fall Wreath

Welcome to late September. I think I can safely say that’s it’s fall.

Along with a few other Canadian Home Decor and DIY bloggers, we’ve teamed-up to do a blog hop featuring our fall wreathes!

What I love about fall is the colourful and changing foliage, it’s a sight for sore eyes after nothing but a lush green during the summer (boohoo – a green summer) and one of the things I look forward to the most with fall.

Having done wreathes in fall colours in the years past, I wanted to try something new! Although our style isn’t what I’d qualify as shabby-chic or farmhouse pretty, I really liked the idea of a cotton bud wreath for fall.

A photo that Joana Gaines posted on Instagram on friday only drove home my point:

A couple of weeks ago when I was planning the Cotton bud Fall Wreath, I found stems of cotton buds from Michaels for 8.99$ each and to boot they were 40% off! With four stems I was ale to achieve the look I got but cutting off smaller branches to weave into my wreath. I added the bluejays and their nest because we have a family of them floating around in the neighbourhood. They’re loud, rude, and oh so colourful. I also happen to feel a certain affinity for them because they’re associated with my hometown – Toronto!

f you saw my earlier post about our fall porch style, you’ll have seen a preview of the wreath and you’ll also notice that I’ve made a few last minute additions. The berries were added right before the photos after I spotted a large tree with them in the back of our yard area. I snipped a couple off the tree and wove them into the wreath like the cotton buds.

For the base of my wreath I’m using a vine wreath that I bought a couple of years ago and have been recycling every since! Reduce, re-use, recycle, amiright?!

Like I mentioned, a group of 14 bloggers are so excited to share a whole collection of wreaths and we hope you feel inspired to create something of your very own!
