Bone Inlay IKEA Moppe

Remember my beautifully bedroom dresser from this past summer? // here // Well I’m using the stencil again, and this time it’s on an IKEA Moppe to create a beautiful and eclectic office organizer. I know, you never thought you’d read the words “office organizer” on this blog, but hey! There’s a first for everything right? My Bone Inlay IKEA Moppe is something you can do in an afternoon, so if you’re tempted you should absolutely do one for yourself.

*DecoArt sponsored this post, but all thoughts are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make PMQ for two possible.

A Bone Inlay IKEA Moppe is your stencil & organization loving dream come true. Use fun colours from DecoArt's line of paints to create a one of a kind piece that will stand-out in any setting.

Earlier this summer I was sent DecoArt’s Vintage Effect Wash, and quickly pushed it to the back of my paint shelf. I mean, it’s not really my style, and it looks to be geared towards a more farmhouse style. BUT, this past month while moving everything into the studio I found it again and thought it might be the perfect option for doing another bone inlay on untreated wood.

Materials for Bone Inlay IKEA Moppe

Step 1: Start by applying your first coat of vintage effect wash to the drawer fronts, and around the top and sides of the moppe.

Step 2: You can apply a second coat if you’d like, but I liked the look after just one, so I let it dry a bit.

Step 3: Using your bone inlay stencils, pick the right motif and get to work using a roller and paint tray. I chose the chalky finish paint because it sticks to almost anything!

Step 4: Once you’re done and happy with the pattern, do any touch-ups using the vintage effect wash. I know my stencil bled a little and needed some correction.

What I love about my Bone Inlay IKEA Moppe is that it fits right in with the home office situation as it currently stands. It’s eclectic and colourful, and feels right at home with all the patterns in the space.

I’m using it to coral pencisl, enveloppes cheques, receipts etc.
