I mean, it’s totally colourful and eclectic too, but it’s by far one of the most rich and luxurious tables I’ve ever set – basically, it’s a work of art, and it’s due in great part, to my choice of patterns. Setting your Luxurious Christmas Tablescape
Let’s start with the essentials – the colour palette. I wanted to work something a bit darker, definitely moodier, but also rich and warm. Because I’ve got a lot of pinks and reds at play already, and I wanted to incorporate more blues, purple felt like the perfect way to go about it.
If you’ll remember my 3 eclectic thanksgiving place settings, you’ll know that the Cyprus Winter Garden Linen Bantam Table Cloth has been used before. It’s such a lovely shade of purple, and it pulls so many pinks and greens that I couldn’t pass up another opportunity to use it.
TheOlive Bloom Pink Lamona Cloth Placemats and Terra Australis Maggies (MED) Frizzle Cocktail Napkins are also from my thanksgiving place settings. The soft berry branches on the place mats provide a break in the purple, and the white plates are yet another layer, and the perfect backdrop for the retro mustard print on the napkins.
Layering colours, styles, and patterns, can be somewhat of an art form, but once you get the hang of it, it’s quite easy. In this case, I layered white/blue/mustard over white/green/pink/mustard, and layered that over pink/purple/green/mustard.
As you ca see the colours build on themselves. The red striped place card, and gingerbread deer are just for fun, and real ground the traditional patterns in a more eclectic and whimsical feel.
Beyond the Luxurious Christmas Tablescape
If you look past the beautiful tablescape, there are quite a few beautiful Christmas DIYs on display, not to mention some other lovely textiles that go a long way towards making the space feel glam and velvety.

Because at this time of year, things can get a little chilly, I added some warm and velvety pillows to the chairs as well — might as well be comfy!
I brought some malachite, geometric and retro starburst patterns into play, and I gotta say, it’s all working out really well. Sometimes the #moreismore school of decor really pays off, especially at this time of year when opulence and colour are everywhere.
Giving luxurious gifts
Oh you know me, looking real cas (pronounced “casz” as in short for “casual”), going to and fro with gifts and table linens while I prep for a Luxurious Christmas Dinner Party. See, this party is ending with gifts and merriment, but that doesn’t just happen on its own. You gotta put in the hours, cleaning, prepping, cooking (erm – ordering in) and choosing the right gifts.
