I love summer!
I would love it even more if it felt like it was actually with us consistently, instead of this constantly flitting in and out of my life. Sunshine and warmth, why you gotta play me like that?! I don’t want to have to put a jacket on to leave the house anymore.
In one of our most recent spurts of sunshine and warmth I styled our backyard table for a quick dinner with friends, and put together this post with summer table decorating ideas.
The look consists of this superbly summery and flowery tablecloth from Kate Spade home (Purchase at Homesense. Shh! it’s a secret), my blue water goblets from last summer, my little red Foo dog salt & pepper shakers, a green water pitcher in the same style as my water goblets, as well as my famed collection of plastic outdoor plates (can one be famous for plastic plates?).
I’ve always got cushions laying around, and the chairs that are part of our outdoor collection are no different! I found these beautiful blue trellis seat cushions for a steal at Jysk last summer.
I’m a big believer in outdoor plastic stuff because it’s less likely to break. It would take me a good day to recover if I lost 3 plates in my china collection, but the plastic stuff is less of an issue since it’s manufactured en masse for the summer.
Summer is a great time to dress the table with items from your every day life. Going to the beach? Grab some driftwood and layer-in some candles for a nice centrepiece. Going to the farmer’s market? Make sure you buy some local flowers! I love flowers in natural colours, and locally grown flowers are bound to be a bit sturdier too. If you think about it, almost anything can give you summer table decorating ideas.
What do you do for summer tables?
