Re-read the title in case you missed it.
I really, really, really wanted a green velour couch.
When we were doing our sitting room I was having grand delusions of being able to find the perfect green velour / crushed velvet couch at a thrift store on the cheap (preferably without flees and bugs), or from a department store at the right price.

I thought it would be such a great piece to have, and that it would be a nice staple in our growing furniture collection. DH was not convinced of it, and thought it was “too trendy” for furniture. He was worried that I would want to buy another one when green velour was no longer in style. He’s crazy, so let’s leave it at that.

When we started looking for furniture in the sitting room, I hand’t seen a green velour couch outside of a skeezy basement or a movie from the late 70s. They were nowhere to be seen, so in terms of DH’s “trendy” argument, I thought he was out to lunch. I didn’t end up finding one to purchase, but instead I found this lovely off-green four place couch and matching club chair. You may have seen photos of them throughout some of my winter posts. More detailed shots will follow with the house tour!
I love deep greens, strong emeralds, and vibrant shades with a lot of depth. I think using an interesting texture like velour would add such depth to the material, and to the over couch as light played across it. I guess I’ll never know!

But the, green velour couches are everywhere now! Quite literally, in the past 2 months I have seen more green couches than I have in the past decade. Maybe my thoughts and desires are somehow setting design trends?! Unlikely. Or maybe I’m just seeing them everywhere because I want to? More likely. Either way, I think they’re gorgeous and haven’t completely ruled it out for the TV room, as we seek to replace our Canex couch. The cats and dog have had their say with that couch, and it’s becoming an eyesore. Time for a change!
