Last weekend we headed to l’Île D’Orléans as a way of occupying some visiting family. We planned to drive the island, maybe get some ice-cream and kill a few hours. We very quickly changed our plans once we got there. It’s a beautiful place, full of great locally made crafts, brews, and food. We had a blast driving around; stopping to sample the tastes of the island and meet new people. We also happened to spot quite a few garage and estate sales, as well as a nice variety of antique stores and barns! The people we were entertaining weren’t the antiquing type, but we made plans to go back the next weekend i.e TODAY!
So we did! With a new set of family members visiting us – the type who definitely like to rummage through old barns and comb over stores. Off we went to go antiquing on l’Île d’Orléans!
We stopped at as many of the islands stores as we could, and hit-up a few garage sales. Nothing was purchased, but we’ve now quite the repertoire up our sleeve should we need to find that one piece that we can’t get downtown. Antiquing on l’Île d’Orléans is definitely a sport, and I would only recommend it for those of you who don’t mind traipsing through dirty barns with no floors and mice poop.
I’m linking to the website with the directory for the island, and you can peruse the website to make your own itinerary for antiquing on l’Île d’Orléans. Some of the best places are not listed, so you’ll just have to go and take a look yourself!
Time stops for no one on L’ile!
