While I work on finishing some projects on the go around the house, I decided to spice-up some current pieces with a splash of colour. Nice looking tassles are hard to come by, as most of them look a little old, or are way too expensive.
I saw a post on The Hunted Interior about making tassels, and thought I’d give it a spin!
I opted for what I could find at our local Dollarama, some sassy coral and beautiful green beads. I wanted long tassels, so I grabbed a little directory book to use as the length. Wrap the cord, then keep on wrapping, and wrap some more! If you want a full tassle, keep going!
Make sure that the end you finish with, hangs on the same side as the one you started with, so that when you cut them, you don’t lose too many bits!
Bind them together with your anchor cord in the middle so that the open ends are all hanging together. Then, start threading your beads!
I tied them on the handles of my new thrift store desk. Love them!
NOTE TO SELF: If you have a pooch, make sure the tassels don’t look or taste like a rope toy. Bruce went to town on the ball of left-over yarn.
I made another set in a greenish yellow. Stay tuned for my the next post!
