Today we’re doing something a little different – touring my friend’s apartment.
For most people, PMQs are houses but most bases also have apartments for rent. They’re usually given to single people, or couples without pets. Little do you know, they’re actually adorable! The ones here are little gems with exposed wood beams in the ceilings, and an accessible floor plan.
While house-sitting, my friend has graciously allowed me to photograph her place and give you guys a sneak-peek inside an apartment. She has great taste and has made the space work for her. I like to think I would have come up with something like this if I didn’t have a dog and a husband. I love white as a decor colour and would use more of it if I could keep it clean from dog park dirt and sriracha stains. Unfortunately Bruce and DH have other things in mind, hence all the saturated colours in our spread – easier to hide stains.
My friend has spent a little over a year accumulating and curating her place, mixing high and low, as well as found pieces from her travels and big box purchases, with some thrifting thrown in. Watching it grow into the space it is now, through texts and coffee dates has been quite nice compared to my madness.
Her living room makes a great statement when you walk in. The white couch and blue chairs are perfect counter-weights to each other, with tones of slate and black thrown in to balance it all out. I would gladly sit back and relax with a drink in this place.
Overall, her dominant aesthetic is mid-century modern, partly dictated by stylistic elements already in the apartment like the accordion doors and laminate floors, and the brown cupboards in the kitchen, but she makes it all work! Props to her.
Her dining room chairs are an ongoing DIY project as anyone who visits will tell you. I think it took her 2 days to get one done, and then a year to get the second one done. We may never truly see the end of the project tehehehe
Her guest room has the matching club chair to my yellow couch! Funny story, we found the set together but since I couldn’t fit the yellow chair in our TV room she took it home with her.
Don’t you just love the floor?! no one does, stop lying to yourself. She has done a great job of making the room cozy and intimate while balancing colours with the lovely trellis bedsheets and the geometric side-table and cute little yellow lamp.
Last but not least, the master bedroom. It’s an oasis , and I’m sure many snuggle parties have happened there but these sheets won’t tell. I wish I could have an all white bedroom. I tried to in my first apartment but married life changed that. The bedsheets are adorable and very feminine, the bedside tables are the perfect height and the room just look super comfy and inviting.
The framed fabric above the bed and the colourful bed sheet add the right amount of colour. Speaking of the bear, who doesn’t still have their childhood teddy bear? Mine are in the linen closet because Bruce thinks they’re his for the nibbling. WRONG.
The adorable little knick knacks on her dresser complete the room. I love it and wish I had thought of it first! cute figures on wide-base candle stick bases. Love it.
Thanks for stoping by today. I hope your enjoyed the sneak-peek into an equally fabulous and stylish PMQ. What would you have done differently?
