I thought I’d kick-off today’s wordpress extravaganza with a quick project I did earlier this week.
Back in June during my MASON JAR EVERYTHING?! phase, I used our excess mason jars to store our spices. I had a lot of doubles, and spices in jars, bags, little tin boxes etc. It was a mess, and not every easy to navigate.
I decided to concentrate all my spices in various mason jars in the hopes that I would be able to better see them, sort them, and therefore use them. Spice of life, right?
WRONG. Because I had only cut-out the spice names from those stored in little bags, half of our spices (the not-s0-obvious ones) suddenly became a mystery as they were un-labelled! eeeeek! Those that did have a spice name, where often burried within the spices and therefore not easily identifiable.
Suddenly, tuesday morning I was struck with some genius! Why not use the chalk-board spray paint to make the lids customizable? We have chalk, we have TONS of mason jars and lids, so why not invest some time in identifying the spice rack for once and for all. So I did.
STEP 1: I started out by spraying the inner lids with my trusty chalkboard spray-paint
STEP 2: Let dry! Don’t do what I did, and spray paint in your basement. I think even the cat got a little sick from the fumes :S
STEP 3: Put the lids back on once dry, and start identifying your spices!
Step 4: RACK ‘EM UP! your lovely new spice and seasoning collection is complete, and you now have a way to better identify and label what goes into your myraid mason jars.
Have you ever done something like this?
